Small Business Coach Reaching an Unreachable Goal with EaseBy Stan Tyler I am used to seeing top performers like Tiger Woods using a coach but he is unlike most mere mortals in his profession. I think, like most people, I have seen coaches used for improving the mechanical skills of the golf swing, or passing or shooting skills in football or basketball. What is not as obvious is the wisdom of using coaching in reaching business and personal goals. I recently launched a weight loss project that I had long held to be impossible and reached it with startling ease. I had wanted to get back to weighing 185lbs but never got closer than 200 lbs. In looking at why it was so easy this time I discovered several pivotal reasons: · I talked to a friend who I respect and he had lost 25 lbs · He strongly recommended two coaches that helped him with his goal · I walked in excited about the possibility of reaching my goal with the first coach, Radhia Gleis, PhD. Nutritionist. · She presented a well thought out plan that had been used successfully by 300,000 people and as a result I signed up. · She provided great coaching at every weekly meeting and I had a “no kidding” way to measure my results. · I had great results the first week which inspired me to stick with the plan. · She recommended a great gourmet cook, Melissa Good, who prepared and delivered great tasting pre packaged meals that fit my food intake requirements. · Interestingly one of my motivators was the cost of the program. The price, which seemed high when I first heard it but I really wanted to lose the weight so I forked over the money. I had invested in my own success. Three months and 30 lbs later, I reached my 185 pound goal and I have kept the weight at that level for three months now. One of the wonderful side benefits of working with great professional coaches is a self confidence boost that spills over into both my business and personal life.
